2024 Summer Lesson Information

Did you know that summer music lessons don't necessarily require lots of practice time?

There are so many things that can be learned in lessons, even if there wasn't “a whole lot of practice going on”. Learning to sightread notes and rhythms, getting ideas for composing their own music, doing improvisational piano and playing by ear, working on music theory (different than their “theory” books) - these are just a few of the areas that we can cover in summer lessons (without much practice).

We can still do traditional lessons, but for those students that want a change of pace, we can set aside the normal lesson books for the summer and focus on other musical areas, or “fun” songs – things we don't always have as much time for during the regular school year. The new focus might be just what is needed to get them to want to practice on their own this summer!

Again this summer - for those that are interested, there will be a jazz studies track and a music composition track. I am super excited about these areas. Imagine: your child could be composing their own music at the computer (on a free program) instead of playing a video game on a rainy summer day. (Of course, they might like it so much that there are doing it all the other days too!).

So, don't let the worry about “having enough time to practice” keep you from doing summer lessons. It could provide just the spark needed for new ideas in piano playing for your child.

Summer lessons run from the week of June 15th through August 26th. Lessons are offered at the discounted rate of $25 per lesson. You can schedule the lessons as it fits your schedule, whether that’s every other week, one full month, once or twice a month, or all summer (minus your own vacation weeks). I know summers can be crazy so I’d like to find a schedule that works for each individual student. You can fill in the specific weeks requested on the registration page.

Email me if you would like a summer registration form. I will email you the form and you can simply fill in the blanks and submit it to register. Times will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis.

My piano teaching hours are listed here and registration is listed on this page. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to sign up for summer lessons and we can schedule your time slot(s) then.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SUMMER and

LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC!!
