S I will be taking spring break Tuesday, March 12th through Tuesday, March 19th (morning lessons on Wednesday the 20th will be rescheduled). If you will be gone on a different week/day for break, please let me know (if you haven’t already done so). I will try and post multiple makeup lesson times on the music teacher’s helper website for hose needing alternate lesson times. My break was a planned time off and lessons were not figured in for that week so if your schedule matches mine, no makeup will be needed.
RECITALS Mark your calendar now for our spring recital showcase. It will be on Sunday, May 5th at 1:30pm, 2:45p, and 4:00pm. Choose the recital time that works best for you. Students are already working on recital pieces for this program.
P The annual MMTA Piano Exams are great opportunities for students to work toward a goal of perfecting their skills and their artistry. Piano Exams involve learning 3-4 pieces, technical skills, and sight-reading. Almost all of my students are already working on these areas in lessons. I highly recommend students do an exam each year once they are past the 2nd year of piano lessons. There are three remaining test dates : Sunday, May 5th, Saturday, May 11th, and Saturday, June 8th. Students will earn a certificate of completion and earn points toward earning an MMTA ribbon/pin/trophy. There is a slight fee for registration. More information is on my web site at http://www.moyermusicstudio.com/current- students
MISSED and MAKEUP LESSONS With all the weather-related snow days, etc this winter, I am making a concerted effort to put any and all makeup lesson times available on the website each week. If you know that you will have a conflict, you can simply go to the Music Teacher’s Helper Website https://moyermusicstudio.musicteachershelper.com/login and sign up for a makeup time for your student. You should also be able to cancel a lesson in this same way. If you ever have problems with the website, just email me and I will make the changes for you. Please, give at least 24 hours notice for changes when possible. This way I can list your canceled lesson time as a makeup time for someone else. Also, please don’t send your student to lessons if they have been home sick from school that same day.
QUESTIONS Should you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is by text or email. Weekly slots now open: (available for makeups or for a permanent time change if needed) Mondays at 3:30pm and 4:30pm, Tuesdays at 4:00pm and 4:30pm |

ROCK STAR CHALLENGE Our incentive program this year is the Rock Star Challenge. Students will be earning “brag tags” that they can add to their “bling” necklaces and earn prizes as they reach different milestones. So far it has been a big hit. I do these programs to encourage the kids to become well-rounded musicians. We cover sightreading, rhythms, solo and group performances, theory, composition, listening, technique, analysis notereading, etc……. I think it’s important for their overall musicianship to be proficient in a variety of ways. In line with the “Rock Star” theme we will also be doing some contemporary music and have two pop music showcases this year in addition to our regular recitals. RECITALS Our first informal Pop Showcase Recital will be on Sunday, October 13th at 4-5pm. (Place TBD) This is an optional recital for those that have a “pop/jazz” piece ready to perform. We will have our bigger Pop Showcase (complete with lights and a combo band) in February of 2019. Our Christmas Recital is scheduled for Friday, November 30th from 6-9pm (3 recital times will be available). This will be at Calvary Church in Roseville. MISSED and MAKEUP LESSONS Due to the tight schedule this year, I am making a concerted effort to put any and all makeup lesson times available on the website each week (A makeup day is also offered the second Saturday of each month).
IMPORTANT OCTOBER DATES There will be NO LESSONS from Friday, October 19th (MEA Weekend) through Sunday, October 28th. This is a planned break so lessons will not need to be made up from that week. Students that have lessons on Halloween have the option to do a makeup lesson on Friday, November 2nd or Saturday November 3rd - times will be listed on the website. Makeup lesson times will also be available on Saturday, October 13th from 9-12 – times will be listed on the website.
QUESTIONS Should you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is by text or email. Thanks for a great start to the new school year – I LOVE working with your kids!!!

Happy New Year!
I'm excited to see everyone back to lessons in the next week! We will be focusing this month on rhythm skills and each student will be completing at least 6 different rhythm worksheets. So break out the drums, rhythm sticks and plastic cups. I also have several new "CUP" rhythm exercises that we will explore in lessons each week. |
I Love This!
The best part of the year has been hearing these actual statements from my amazing students: I'm playing at my school talent show. I played for my music class at school. We played duets at the piano in the restaurant. I played piano at the airport. I accompanied a hymn at my aunt's wedding. I gave a recital over the phone to Grandma. I played piano for a wedding. I wrote my own song this week. I'm playing in the worship band at church. I'm playing piano in the school jazz band. I figured out how to play this song from the radio. I learned how to play the Tetris music by ear. I want to play another instrument now too. This song made me cry. This song was my favorite! (and saying this about EVERY song assigned) I'm so glad I didn't quit piano lessons. MY STUDENTS ARE INCREDIBLE!! |

Our Christmas Recital will be held on Sunday, December 7th (this is a change from the 13th), from 3-6pm. There will be two or three separate recital times offered and more information about signing up will be coming soon. This is a fun recital - we set up the room cafe style, everyone brings a plate of Christmas goodies to share, and we get to sit and listen to great music! Looking forward to it. |

Happy Halloween!
Here is a link to some scary music for the Halloween week. Choose the ones that you would like to listen to. I highly recommend the Bach and the Mussorgsky but the Star Wars March by John Williams is also fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVJD3dL4diY&list=PL2epX6Gu01jkNRcr0YzFFMKoMZYer8xDB |
